Professional Diploma In Training And Development (PDTD)

 

This program is developed by STADA. PDTD provides the know-how and practical competencies to function as a Training and Development profession.

 

This program consists of 8 modules that cover the various aspects of training and development. There are many practical sessions that require the learners to apply the knowledge they acquire.

 

Duration

 

7 months (Weekdays & Weekend Intakes)

-    Module 1: Introduction to Training and Development (36 hours)

-    Module 2: Managing Training and Development (36 hours)

-    Module 3: Planning Training (36 hours)

-    Module 4: Delivery Training (36 hours)

-    Module 5: Business of Training (36 hours)

-    Module 6: Introduction to Coaching (36 hours)

-    Module 7: Trainer as Entrepreneur (36 hours)

-    Module 8: Practicum (44 hours)

 

Entry Criteria

 

For direct admission to the programme, Applicants must have:

- At least GCE 'A' level qualification

- At least 5 years of working experience in an appropriate field

 

Applicants are required to apply for STADA Ordinary Membership when accepted into the programme unless they are already members or employees of STADA Corporate Members.

 

This programme is SDF and SRP approved.

Professional Certificate

 

WSQ - Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA)

 

This course will provide people working in the training industry with the skills and knowledge needed to design and deliver appropriate training to a variety of audiences. It will also provide the underpinning knowledge needed for the assessment of learners in a training setting.

SDF supported for both full time and part time programme.

 

Project Freelance Grant (PFG) For wsq-acta

 

Project Freelance is another initiative by WDA to assist professional who is not a full time employee with any organisation. Freelance trainers are those currently engaged, or will be engaged by ATO as a freelance trainer to conduct WSQ courses. For enquiries and applications, please contact STADA office. The validity period for this PFG would start from 15 October 2007 and end on 30 September 2008.

 

Programme Contents

 

WSQ-ACTA CU1: Interpret the Singapore WSQ Framework (10 hours)

At the end of this unit, the participants will be able to:

- Describe the WSQ Framework.

- Interpret Competency Standard documents.

- Apply the WSQ Framework for Learning and Development.

Final Assessment: 1 hour

 

WSQ-ACTA CU2: Apply Adult Learning Principles & Code of Ethics Relating to Training (10 hours)

At the end of this unit, participant will be able to:

- Interpret adult learning theories and principles.

- Address different styles/preferences and cultural differences.

- Address ethical issues relating to training.

Final Assessment: 1 hour

 

WSQ-ACTA CU3A: Design and Develop A WSQ Facilitated Training Programme (28 hours)

At the end of this unit, the participants will be able to:

- Define parameters of a training programme.

- Design the training programme.

- Develop the training programme.

- Evaluate the training programme.

Final Assessment: 1 hour

 

WSQ-ACTA CU4A: Prepare & Facilitate Classroom Training (21 hours)

At the end of this unit, the participants will be able to:

- Review profile of his/her learners and adjust training programme to meet the needs.

- Prepare resources needed for training delivery.

- Create and maintain a conducive learning environment.

- Facilitate learning through effective instructional skills and strategies.

- Monitor progress of learners and adjust training programme.

- Review post-course evaluation.

Final Assessment: 1.5 hours

 

WSQ-ACTA CU5: Develop A Competency-Based Assessment (21 hours)

This unit specifies the competencies required of an individual to develop a competency-based assessment.

At the end of this unit, the participants will be able to:

- Prepare a competency-based assessment plan.

- Develop competency-based assessment tools.

- Validate assessment plan.

Final Assessment: 1 hour

 

WSQ-ACTA CU6: Conduct Competency-Based Assessment (14 hours)

At the end of this unit, the participants will be able to:

- Prepare to conduct assessment as an assessor.

- Prepare candidate for assessment.

- Carry out the actual conduct of assessment.

Final Assessment: 30 minutes

 

 

Entry Criteria

-     GCE 'O' Level Education

-     Ability to read and write English at proficiency level 8 of Employability Skills System (ESS)

-     Workplace Infocomms Techonology (ICT) skills

-     Relevant experience in the work of Training and Development

Eligibility Criteria for PFG

 

WDA defines free-lance trainers as trainers who:

-     Are not on full-time employment with a company;

-     Are, or will be, engaged by ATO on a part-time or on assignment basis

 

Note: ATO = Approved Training Organizations that have been identified by WDA to conduct WSQ courses.

 

Requirements

-     Free lance trainer must be a Singaporean or PR;

-     Minimum of secondary education;

-     Have been conducting industry training for a minimum of 1-year prior to commencement of ACTA module;

-     Be currently engaged, or will be engaged, by ATO as free-lance trainer to conduct WSQ courses; and

-     Have obtained a letter of appointment which has to be printed on corporate letterhead from an ATO (you can find the ATO list at the SDF website www.sdf.gov.sg ) with a minimum validity period of appointment of 12 months upon completion of any ACTA module. -     Complete the module(s) including sitting for the respective final assessment (FA) with an overall attendance rate of not less than 75%. Learners will be billed for the funded portion of the course fees if the attendance rate is less than 75% and/or do not sit for the FA.

 

[Important: The period of funding shall end on 30 September 2008 or while fund lasts. Learners who are applying under this scheme please note that, you must complete the class as well as attend the final assessment by this date.]
